Matthew 14:28

Lord,… if it’s you, tell me to come out on the water.

I see the fearless waves, thrashing and crashing about.
Ominous sky burdened by heavy clouds.
Wind whipping and flailing across my face.
Thunderous strikes echoing, reverberating and overcoming.

I see what’s out there.
I feel what’s out there.

Lord,… if it’s you, tell me to come out on the water.

Fear mixed with fortitude.
Weakness mixed with strength.
Disbelief mixed with confidence.

In fear and weakness and disbelief, I will walk.  I will.
Because, you never fail.  Never.

With fortitude and strength and confidence, I will walk.  I will.
Because, you never fail.  Never.

Tell me to come out on the water, Lord…
Tell me to say the words that need to be said.
Tell me write the words that need to be written.
Tell me to forgive the unforgivable.
Tell me to love the children that still need to be loved.
Tell me to give everything away and then give some more.
Tell me to risk it all.

If it’s you and if you tell me to, I will take that step. I will.

Because, I know that on the other side your hand will stretch out to me.
Extend out to me.
You will catch me.
You will rescue me. You will.

Those words you give, might just be healing words.
And those children, they might just love me back.
They might just love you back.
And when everything is given, I might just feel richer.

You will catch me. You will.

Lord… if it’s you, tell me to come out on the water.
